Wide Legged White Pant done!! (Part2)

Okay, where do I start from?....lol. My first ever white pant, I have always had the impression that white pants are not for me....God knows where I had that from. Anyways with not too lengthy post here is the latest addition to my wardrobe.....I absolutely love this pants,  took my time as much as I could to get the fit to work.

The pattern is KWIKSEW.3625, my one and only TNT... have made it 2 times before remember this post and this post, I actually wanted to start with Vogue 1059 but realised the style is similar 
Although I still did a little alterations to this one by reducing the waist by 1"  guess have lost a bit around the waist or may be it's just the fabric..lol....

 However, If you look at the side seam you will notice it angles off a bit, so next time I will remove about 1" from the front pattern and add it to the back so that the side seam can be really perpendicular to the floor, but nothing major I guess non-sewist won't even notice this .....wink

Oh did I forget to mention that am really loving this pants?.lol...I love the style, the fabric and the fit. Thanks Erica, your's was a good inspiration...... So here are my pictures....

March Challenge #7.........Kwik Sew 3625

I am really getting there. This time I didn't start any pattern from scratch, I reused my one and only TNT pant pattern KwikSew 3625, I am so much in love with this pattern that I am finding it difficult to use another pattern. You can read the review here. This is my third time of making it,  the first one was a wearable muslin, the second was paired with simplicity vest and this is the 3rd one, and everytime I make this I fall more in love with it....lol..
I used navy blue Garbadine from Fabricland..., I enjoyed working with this fabric, its so smooth and nice to iron.....
The only thing I did differently with this version is that I scooped out 0.5" from the front waist, I started from the middle and tapered to nothing on the front sides and I added a ribbon to hang it......

Month of Pants (#2) + Simplicity 4079

My second post for the month of pant. I used the same Kwik Sew pattern as the first pant. However, I did a little modification to the pattern. I added 5/8" on both the front and back sides and used a little stretched fabric so this works so much better and fits better than the first one.

To wear with my pant, I made this lovely vest using simplicity4079 View E. Here are some modifications I made to the vest pattern.
(1) FBA
(2)  I lengthened by 2"
(3)I cut 4 front pieces instead of (2 fabric, 2 lining piece) suggested because I like the professional look of fabric front facing instead of lining front facing, so I ommited piece #13
(3) Also I bagged the lining to the fabric but hand sewn (slip stitched) the arm hole .....It really looks sharp this way......lol and I just love the way it turned out.

Month of Pant (Kwik Sew 3625)

I will like to say a big thank you for all the comments and suggestions I received on my last post, the jacket is still on the form  I just need to get to the store and get some buttons and  will definately post the final pictures when am done.

Now to the real thing. I recently joined the month of pant sew along, and just completed my first pair. I used kwik sew pattern 3625. This is actually my first time using this pattern, and I am glad I tried it out. I cut size a medium and tapped to large around the hip...but this pant is still very tight, I did all my normal alterations , the crotch fits so well except for the sides. I guess I will have to add more to the sides next time

Fabric:  Wool polyester. From Walmart for $1.97, and Bemberg lining...

Pattern Description: Wide flared leg pants have fly zipper and shaped wide waistband. pockets and loops are optional.

Pattern Sizing: XS-XL. I cut a medium and tapped up to large on the hip


Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?: Pretty much, but mine needs some comfort....lol.

Were the instructions easy to follow: Super easy to follow, I used it only for the pocket, since have made pants before I used other techniques I am familiar with to complete the project


Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: Yes, couple
I did my normal full thight alteration
Lengthened by 3"
Sway back alteration
Deepened the back crotch by half inch to make room for the "rear"and
Reduced the front crotch by half inch


What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love everything, except for the tightness.... even after letting out quarter inch on both sides.
Next time I will use a stretchy fabric, will add about half inch on both sides and will eliminate the pockets because they really emphasize my hips.

Would you recommend it to others? Absolutely, just go for it
Conclusion: Very easy pattern . Glad I joined the MOP sew along . I am ready for my next pair.

A pair of jeans?..... I must be kidding

I am show casing my first pair of jeans.... It's a burda pattern 7738 .

I have been longing for a fitted jeans in a long time and I have been so frustrated because I couldn't find any RTW that fits properly. After a long search I decided to make one . I used a simple young burda pattern. I did all my normal alteration and made a muslin..........and absolutely fell in love with the try out. Here is my version.

Fabric: Stretch denim and i used a stretch cotton for the pocket.

Notion: 8"Jean zipper, and topstitching thread .

Pattern Description: Burda Pattern 7738, Young Burda fashion .

Pattern Sizing: size 34 – 46. I cut size 44

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?: yes , but I love mine better ...lol .

Were the instructions easy to follow: I followed some of the instructions but I used a technique I read in thread magazine to make the zipper.

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: As with all patterns, I made my usual alterations such as:
(a) I made a 1" wedge alteration on the back pattern to accommodate for my usual "backload" as shown below
(b)I shortened the front crotch area by 1" to reduce the front crotch length and to balance the back crotch.
(c)I made full thigh alteration using the minott's method as illustrated on Debbi's blog here
(d)I lengthened the pant by 2" to increase the inseam
(e) I did not put the coin pocket and no rivet .

Back pocket needs to be shortened next time

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love this pattern, but I don`t like the length of the pocket, I will shorten it next time.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I will recommend it to beginners who might want to try out a simple jean pattern, and some advance sewist too.

Conclusion: This is a simple jean pattern and definately a TNT .

Fitted Pant (Simplicity 4366)

Fellas, hope you've been having fun sewing!!!!!. I have been busy working on this simplicity pant for some days now. I made three different muslins , read lots of books and visited some blogs just to make this pant as fitted as I can, in the end I guess all my effort paid off. Here is a review of my amazing pant. My first fitted pant ever. The first pant I ever made was a disaster!!!! so this is the second one.

To be honest, I have been avoiding making pant because of all the problems associated with its fitting and all the complaint have heard from even experienced sewist, but I decided to challenge myself and give it a try.
In the making of my pant, I used the amazing tip I read on Debbi's blog. This tip is so impotant for some of us with inner-thigh issue I used just the Minott method but I intend to incorporate Sandra' s method in my next pair just to see if it will make any difference, but for now I think I am cool with the outcome of this. However, I will appreciate additional suggestion/comments from you "gurus" out there.

For my pant, I used Old Navy Twill and Bemberg rayon lining for the pocket and cut out size 16.
I lengthen the back crotch length by making a wedge of 1 " on the back and I folded the same amount of wedge in the front, then I used the minott method for the full thigh alteration.
I completed my pant by following the pattern instructions which were very easy to follow, but as usual I used one of Sandra's method to create a professional look by using a bias tape to close the crotch seam .
This is my first pair of pant ever , and I am proud of the outcome, however I am still researching on how to make fitted pant and to continuosly improve my sewing skill.

The back needs to be pressed propely to remove the wrinkle
