Fast and easy top (B5355)
First one down. Here is a review of a fast and easy butterick 5355 top....
Fabric: Sheer polyester from my stash.. I think I got it from Fabricland reminant area, because I had just 1 m.
Pattern Description: Very loose-fitting pullover tops, have elbow or full length raglan sleeves......Views A, B, C , D
Pattern Sizing: Xsm-Sml-Med. I cut medium and view C
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?: Pretty much but with few modifications
Were the instructions easy to follow: Very easy and straight forward,
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: I made few changes.
(a) I did not follow the instruction regarding the neck finishing, instead of encasing the neck with double fold bias tape , I finished the raw edges with single fold bias tape and pressed the edges down to enclose the raw edges, and slipstitched it in place. I like the neck this way.
(b )Also I used roll hem stitch to finish the sleeve and the hem
(c) I also used fench seam throughout.
(d) My fabric wasn't enough so instead of cutting the back on fold as the pattern suggested, I cut 2 back sections and joined them together with french seam.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the raglan sleeve, nothing to dislike.
Would you recommend it to others? Yes, to whoever likes this type of style
Conclusion: Fast and easy.......might make one more sometime

Based on my last post I received more email regarding the thread magazine giveway and I had just 7, so all have been sent to the 3 sistahs that asked first.
Greytone asked if I can make a copy of the "Inside Chanel Jacket," I have to check if this is legal, I can do this and send it to you for NO FEE. Please if anybody knows if this is legal I will appreciate your input... Greytone you can send me a mail and we go from there, I couldn't leave a comment or send you mail from your blog............................

I won KIVA gift Certificate
Recently Gwen had a give-away price for her 300th post and I was fortunate enough to win the price; a $50 KIVA gift certificate which I have already put in good use, I am so happy that I can help.
Gwen, thanks so much for this opportunity to help those in need.
In case you haven't heard of KIVA , it's an organisation that lets individual lend to small enterpreneur in any part of the world. You can read more about them at http://www.kiva.org/ .
So here are the pictures of my loan recipients ...
A 64yr old farmer from Togo and a 48yr old firewood retailer and mother of 8 children from Mali.
I hope to reloan after the repayment of this first one. It's so exciting and uplifting to help others.
