Missoni...Biased Cut Maxi
The title says it all.....what do you think?? The pictures didn't do great justice to this fabric, they were taken with a camera phone. The fabric was from fabric land remnant bin, for $1:50 a meter and was lucky to get just enough for this style . Have a pleasant weekend y'all

Mcalls 5523....Misses straight skirt
A wardrobe staple Mcalls 5523. I completed this project last weekend but didn't have time to finish the hem. Another quick and easy project
I love everything about the pattern, very easy and flattering, it’s officially my TNT. I made a wearable muslin from old denim that’s been in my stash forever, and that too is going to het lots of wear.
Fabric: 100% wool, and lined with Bemberg lining
Pattern Description: Straight skirt, mid-knee length, has side zipper and faced waistline; Skirt A has shaped lower back flounce; Skirt B has pleated lower back; Skirt C has gathered lower back with self-fabric ruffle; Skirt D has two lower back flounces
Pattern Sizing: 12-14-16-18 , I cut between 12 &14 at the waist and graded up to 16 just below the waist
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?: Pretty much, but love mine better…wink
Were the instructions easy to follow? Absolutely, I only checked for the pleats direction
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: My usual alteration on pants and skirts as shown below.
I added 1” wedge, so that the back wont be jumpy when I wear it, and I lined it as the pattern didn`t call for lining.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like everything , more importantly I can wear it with any top....

S4653....+S2599
This is what I wore on Monday...., and I was feeling kinda cool in this color...lol. The top as already been reviewed, and the skirt is a piece of cake, I can't remember how or when I got the pattern, but it's been in my stash forever , I guess is now OOP. I barely have enough fabric for the skirt , I lined it with a tricot knit, used non roll elastic for the waist, put 1/2" interface to stabilise the hem and .....viola, Did I mention how much I love this skirt???.......Super comfy

March Challenge #4..........Simplicity 2475
Still doing my thing...lol. Simplicity 2475 skirt pattern was used for the pencil skirt, but I must warn this pattern runs so huge, although I knew about this earlier because I read the review on PR, I just love the style and I thought I could make it work, I am glad I did because it's so flattering on me....wink. I chopped off a total of 4" on the waist i.e 2" on each side and about 0.5" on the hip.
Because I knew before hand, I didn't do any wedge alteration on the back piece like I normally would, but I folded out 0.5"on the front piece and tappered to nothing on the sides like I showed in my previous post.
I fully lined the skirt by folding out the pleats on both back and back side pieces to make the lining pieces...as shown below.
Fabric: Suiting fabric from fabricland, it has a little bit of spandex to it
Pattern Description: Amazing Fit - sewing pattern skirts. Misses'/miss petite skirt sewing pattern in two lengths with individual pieces given for slim, average, and curvy fit.
Pattern Sizing: 16-24.. I cut size 16 curvy
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?: Nope mine is curvier.....
Were the instructions easy to follow: Very easy and even shows how to fit the skirt on the sides. I didn't actually follow it because I have made yoked skirt before.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: Like I said, above....in addition, I attached the lining to the yoke facing
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the style. This is actually my first pencil skirt ever made. My dislike is the too much ease....
Would you recommend it to others? Yes, just be prepared to work with the unnecessary ease
Conclusion: Great style , and nice skirt for work or casual.....
Now to the next project...You all have a lovely Weekend....

I am really getting "gooder" inserting invisible zipper now...lol

March Challenge #3........... Simplicity 2451
The first skirt in the March challenge. I revisited my simplicity 2451. I didn't make much modification to this version, but I added 2 " to the sides and center back pattern and removed 1" from the waist. I cut size 16 in the earlier version which maked it snuggle on the hip until I reduced the seam allowances to 1/4" before it could fit. So this time
(1)I added the extra needed and reduced the waist as well
(2)I didn't put the tab .
(3)I fully lined the skirt using Sharon's technique,
(4)Used invisible zipper like the first one
This skirt fits like a charm, I love it so much and very comfy to wear with the bemberg lining. The fabric is 100% italian wool from fabricland , but it's soft and drapy, and has been in my stash since 2008, it goes very well with my Mccall's shirt and of course nicer on me than the dress form.....wink!!!!!!!
I received several emails about how I did the wedge alteration on the skirt, so I am posting the pictures as well.
You all have a good one....So off to the cutting table for my next pencil skirt.....

Simplicity 2451 skirt.....
Hello there.....I have been a bit lazy lately; I just want spring/summer to come... I am so tired of the cold weather and it's just taking forever to go away, but what can I do....? Anyway, all Glory and Thanks to God for his beautiful work....Enough said I guess...sigh.....
Just finished one of simplicity’s latest skirt patterns 2451.... This is a cute skirt pattern and I plan on making one more in another fabric, it has a little detail to it, front and back yoke and a little buttoned tab which makes it stand out...
Here goes the review
With simplicity 2554 top
A little detail
Fabric: Lightweight denim from Fabricland .This has been in my stash for almost a year
Pattern Description: Misses skirts in two lengths
Pattern Sizing: 12-20... I cut size 14 in the waist and graded up to about 17 (btw 16 & 18) in the hip.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes ........
Were the instructions easy to follow: Super duper easy...
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: As always...
(1) I made 1" wedge on the back pattern
(2) I folded 0.5" in the front
(3) I put an invisible zipper
(4) I (machine) topstitched the front and back separately before I joined them together on the sides..
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the style, the front and back yoke and the buttoned tab....nothing to dislike...
Would you recommend it to others? Absolutely..... Go for it ....lol...
Conclusion: Nice style and I am definately making at least one more.....
Enjoy the rest of the week!!!!!!!

PS: Answer to Homejewel question
Thanks everyone for all your comments... The 1" wedge is due to my bum, I have high hip..for example my waist is 34" and my hip (8" from my waist to my hip) is 44.5" so I usually do the 1" wedge so that the skirt hem will not jump in the back.. also the 0.5" in the front is to balance out the wegde in the back. I put the wedge at about 8" from my waist in the back and fold out 0.5" at about the same length in the front. I can send you some pictures of how I made the wedge if you send me your email... Ihope this helps..Let me know if you have any other question.... Here is a link to one of the pants I made using the method....Take care

Newlook 6901...revisited
I thought I was done with this unpopular Newlook 6901 pattern after making this cowl neck top, but when I went to Walmart with my 4 year old babie, she picked these lovely knit fabrics for me. She said mom, these will make you a nice outfit....and I said okay let's buy some yards.... For $1.97 a meter, I bought 2m each and here I am with my new outfit....I am really getting ready for Spring.....
Pattern Description: Misses Knit Tops and Skirt
Pattern Sizing: Size A 8-18.. I cut 14 for the top and 16 for the skirt
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?: Pretty much
Were the instructions easy to follow: Super easy.......
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: I always have some to do;
(1) I cut seperate back pattern for the skirt so that I could do my 1" wedge alteration,
(2)I self lined the skirt
(3)I french seamed the skirt flounce
(4)Used 1'' elastic and serged it to the waistline of the skirt and folded it down so that it would lie flat around the waist........
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Nothing to dislike at all.
Would you recommend it to others? Sure, just a simple 2hr project.
Conclusion: Fast, Easy, Casual and Comfy......
The front and back hem really match...
Love the cowl neck........
Fabric: Jersey knit
Pattern Sizing: Size A 8-18.. I cut 14 for the top and 16 for the skirt

McCall's 2255 Skirt + New Look 6901
Nothing much just a quick one.......I wanted to make something quick and easy so I went for these two patterns which have been in my stash for sometime now. I cut the skirt using M2255 view B and made the top from Newlook 6901 view A. I lengthened the skirt by 2" and the top by 1". This is a combo for casual Friday, or on a weekend .
I used a polyester satin fabric for the skirt ...I love the feel of this fabric, it 's so soft, I lined it with the same knit used for the top, so it's a bit warm in there and very compy.
I roll hemmed the skirt hem and serged the entire top and roll hemmed the sleeve and the hem of the top....From start to finish both took about 2hrs.
I have always loved long skirt and I hardly find something long enough for me in RTW...so this' s a wardrobe booster.......
