Mccall 6069 + Simplicity 1606 = Lovely dress

I made M6069 view A in 2010 here

For this version, the bodice is made from view C back and view A front while the skirt is from S1606. I interfaced the neck back for stability before sewing to the front bodice. The fit is superb and the style oh so flattering, I will take my pics when my photographer has time, but for now this is all I got. Please enjoy!!!!!  Have a lovely week.....

Breaking Silence with Cynthia Rowley...Simplicity 1873

Gradually coming out of my shell................This little number was made last weekend and worn to work yesterday. The fabric has been in my stash for God knows when, it's some kind of soft Chinese cotton ... can't remember where I got it from, but perfect for this pattern.....

I made these few alterations to the pattern:
1. Lengthened the bodies by 1"
2. Lengthened the skirt by 3"

More to follow!!!!.

Butterick 5488.....

Another easy and simple dress. The only thing I dislike about  this pattern is that it runs so big, I cut my usual size 14, but  removed at least 4" total to make it look flattering and I lengthened by about  2", no other major alteration, every other thing was straight from the envelop..... few hrs later I was done . Another wardrobe staple to be worn with tights and high boots.
Here is my version: I used a knit polyester fabric that's just a bit over 1 m.

Worn with cardi

No Cardi

I guess I like it more with the cardi. I wore it to work today, our weather has been so nice since Tuesday with the chinook  , but I am sure it won't be around for long, I better enjoy my dresses now......
Enjoy!!!

Please, pardon my pictures...

Fabric: Matte Jersey from Fabricland

Pattern Description: Misses close-fitting dress.

Pattern Sizing:  6-20. I cut 14 and graded to 16 from waist down

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?:  Absolutely, but mine is prettier...wink

Were the instructions easy to follow: Very easy

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: As usual,
I lengthened the bodice by 1" , and
The skirt by 2"

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I absolutely love everything, nothing to dislike

Vogue 1224 Dress......

Finally something for me………Vogue 1224, Tracy Reese beautiful dress pattern. Really nice for the warm weather we are having now and combine with a good sandal you are good to hit town. For work, I belted it and truly love the effect. Good pattern to jumpstart the sewjo.....

Here is my review;

Fabric:Matte jersey I got few months ago

Pattern Description: Partially lined, pullover dress has short dolman sleeves elastic waistline and neckline with tie ends, stiched hems and above mid-knee length. Purchased stoppers for tie end

Pattern Sizing: BB, 8-14. I cut 14 and added 1" to both sides of the hip

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?: Pretty much, but mine is a  bit longer

Were the instructions easy to follow: Super easy , didn't use it for most part

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: Here are few alterations I did
(a) Lengthened the bodice by 2.5"
(b)Lengthened the skirt by 3.5"
(c)Used the seam allowances of the bodice & skirt to make the casing for the waist.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?Nothing to dislaike , a simple and beautiful dress, and a staple for summer, very easy to make as well, with all the alterations I did, it took me roughly 3 hours to finish

Would you recommend it to others? ….Highly recommend if you are into this type of style. The pattern runs short though, I guess that’s the intent, but I lengthened mine enough to be appropriate for work.
I might sew it again, because am presently on fabric diet so another one will be a good stash buster…..
PS:
Please PM me at asewfit at yahoo dot ca if you are interested in this fabric. I still have some left. Available in navy blue as well.

Enjoy the rest of the week!!!

DKNY Dress...Vogue1179

Check this out, I am so speechless, this is a an easy, simple and lovely pattern, most importantly I love my fabric color........................

Neck close-up
interfaced hemline

Fabric: Matte Jersey from fabricland

Pattern Description: Very loose-fitting, pullover dress, above mid-knee length, has pleated front, cowl collar and wide stitched hem.

Pattern Sizing: E5(14-16-18-20-22); I cut  size 14 and graded to 16 from waist down.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing
with it?: Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow: Very easy, the pattern called for clear elastic on the sleeve and the arm -hole , but I interfaced instead and really like the look .

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: Made few, they are:
Lowered the armhole by 0.5" because I read on PR that the AH is a bit tight
I lengthened the hem by 1"
Reduced the hem width to 3" instead of 41/4 the pattern says
I interfaced the hem line  and
Used 1/4" steam-a-seam to finish the neckline and the hem for a neat finish .

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Very easy and flattering design, nothing to dislike.

Would you recommend it to others?Yes great for beginners and flatters every shape, it's a definitely keeper......

March Challenge #6........ Simplicity 2455

I am still here and doing my thing.... I will be so happy if I can accomplish my set sewing goals for this month, but let's just wait and see..................Here is my review of thread simplicity 2455 dress..... I love this dress, the colour of my fabric and the simplicity of the pattern...just like the name says.....lol...

Inside look of the sleeve

Fabric: Suiting fabric with a little bit of stretch from Fabric land

Pattern Description: 2455 Misses' Sportswear...Threads Collection. Misses' dress or top, pants and jacket sewing patterns.

Pattern Sizing: K5, 10-16. I cut 14 upper and graded to 16 from hip down
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? For most part, except I didn't make the belt

Were the instructions easy to follow: Nothing can be easier.....

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: I didn't really do much alteration.
(1) I made 3/4" swayback adjustment
(2) I didn't put the zipper, because when I tried it to check the fit, I realised the stretch in the fabric is enough to put it on/out so I omitted the zipper.......

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Nothing to dislike at all, I love the style and the fit

Would you recommend it to others? Absolutely......stylish, simple and can be worn as you desire

Conclusion: I am getting in love with threads collection now...lol, I have not been disappointed so far with any of their patterns.. I might be making this again in another fabric that will require lining.... I love it

Have a wonderful week everyone
Enjoy!!!!

My little green dress...Newlook 6922

This is one of Newlook patterns that's been in my stash for some time. I usually try a simple pattern like this to jump start my sewing mojo, like I said in my last post, I have been having a little set back in my sewing since the death of my boiler iron, so to get back, I tried this lil dress. Did I mention I love this dress...lol. Everything from start to finish took less than 2 hours. Although I am yet to hem the sleeve and the bodice, but will do later.

Close-up to show the neck

Fabric: Moderate knit from Wal-Mart

Pattern Description: Just for Knits Tops, Pants and Dresses . I cut view C

Pattern Sizing:  10-22. I cut size 14 and tapered up to 18 from  hip down

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?: Somehow, but mine is longer
Were the instructions easy to follow: Absolutely easy

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: I made few alterations
(1) I lengthened the dress by 4"
(2)Lengthened the sleeve by 1"

(3)I did a swayback adjustment
(4)I slipstitched the neck facing because I didn't like how the topstitching looked so I removed it and hand sewn it.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Nothing to dislike, 4 piece pattern, easy and stylish.
Would you recommend it to others? Yes, a simple dress to make in less than 2 hrs.
Conclusion: I love the pattern, and love the fabric as well,. The fabric has been in my stash since last year  and every time I ask myself why did I buy this fabric... Now, I know why I bought it...lol..
Have a lovely weekend everyone

Enjoy!!!!

Mmmm..... Vogue8575

I didn't have any good time with this pattern at all. It was drafted way too big. I had to take about 4" from the sides and 6 " from the length, I finished it since Monday but it was just on the form. I love my fabric though. I am not sure if I will wear it, it didn't just work for my body type I guess. I fell in love with the pattern when I saw it in my stash but after making it up....mmmmm just didn't like it or rather didn't work for me, but I will still go ahead and review it...... Sigh.....

Fabric: Matte Jersey from Fabric land

Pattern Description: Pullover dresses A, B, C, D, E, F in two lengths have partial self-faced, gathered bodice, lapped bodice front, princess seams, front self band, tie ends, side bodice variations and gathered skirt.

Pattern Sizing: 8-14, I cut size 12

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Not sure

Were the instructions easy to follow: Yeah the instructions were very easy

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: None,

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The pattern was drafted too big, the actual length of my dress from neck to knee is 40.5" and the finished length of the pattern was printed as 40" after making it up , I had to remove 6" from the length and the bodies I removed 2" each from both sides before it could work for me a little bit... You should have seen me before the alteration... My little girl said I looked like a Sumo Wrestler.....lol

Would you recommend it to others? With lots of precaution or if you think it will be nice for your body type

Conclusion: Didn't work for ... I won’t sew it again....

I have started working on my TNT dress pattern.... I hope that still remains TNT....lol...

Have a good one everyone

Enjoy!!!!!!!!
