Skirt & Shirt---NL6130 + M6035

This is going to be a simple post. I sewed the skirt pattern of Newlook 6130 in a ponte knit fabric. This fabric is soft, I just love it.

1.Cut size 14 and graded up to 16 from hip down.
2. Added a 0.5" wedge at the hip and lengthened by 2",
3. Didn't put the zipper but added an elastic to the waist (no didn't make an elastic casing as shown below). I used the zig-zag function of the machine to sew the elastic and the waist together.

The shirt was made last year or early this year but didn't review it because it has already been reviewed here and here. For this version, I used black cotton voile.

All pictures were taken after a long day wear ..... so the wrinkles

Sewn on elastic

It's getting so cold here in Calgary, the temp this morning was -6 celsius but presently at -3 and partly cloudy. What's the weather like in your area???..... Are you feeling it yet????? Whatever it is, enjoy every moment  :)

  4. Great combo. They work well on you. Using elastic is a good choice for ponte.
It's now getting warm here because Spring has finally sprung:)
    Have a lovely weekend.

  6. Beautiful combination! Loving the fit of that skirt, I've never heard of the dart technique in hip area. Thanks for sharing. That black/red combo has been on my mind since September, may have to give it a try. You look great!!!

    1. Thanks Brenda, I love the combo. I usually add about 1" wedge to my skirt back pattern (just about the hip area)so that the back hem won't jump because of my high hip.

  10. Cute skirt!!!! Love the outfit! The weather in Savannah, Ga just got a little cool today around 55 F but will bounce back up to the 70's and return to the 80's F this week. I love the warmth, hate being cold. Yeah, it sure is getting brisk in your neck of the woods! Bundle up and stay fabulously dressed:)
